Regular Tote Bag - SEQ - Brisbane rail 'EMU evolution'
Celebrating 45 years of service for the Electric Multiple Units (EMU) train set.
As we prepare to say goodbye to these beauties, this design features four generations of EMU, evolving throughout their years of service with multiple overhauls and upgrades.
Renowned as bringing Queensland Rail into the twentieth century, locally built in Maryborough these sets were the first electric suburban trains in Brisbane. Replacing older locomotive-hauled carriages, the modern EMU offered a leap forward in service, amenity, comfort and efficiency. With a few of the original 88 3-car sets still in service 45 years after the inaugural service to Ferny Grove on 17 November 1978, these trains have proven themselves as world-class. With their unique sound and classic styling, Queensland's OG EMUs will be greatly missed when they are retired
